Oh my brother’s got a thing for redheads His track record’s strong–I declare That thing just makes him sing for those redheads And that special warm colored hair He might try to connect and bond With a brunette or blonde but I’m afraid that wouldn’t do For when he admits his preference And provides lists of reference They all run away–wouldn’t you? Cause my brother’s got a thing for redheads That’s impossible to deny Oh that thing makes him sing for those redheads And that special love magic they supply For when he goes to date a ginger He’ll try to stay and linger Focused on romantic goals But if she won’t be his, instead He’ll end up seeing red Never knowing if they have souls So if you have red hair too Well he might have a thing for you So if you have red hair too He might have a thing for And even spring for A little fling for He might have a thing for you

When you feel alone You’re never really on your own When you’re walking with your best friend Troubles pass you by And I know the reason why ‘Cause you’re talking with your best friend Sometimes life will bring ya bad news That you just can’t understand But there won’t be as much to lose When you’ve got a friend to lend a helping hand Whatever comes your way It will always be a sunny day When you’re walking with your best friend Sometimes life will give you bad news That you just can’t understand But you won’t have quite as much to lose When you’ve got a friend to lend a helping hand Whatever comes your way It will always be a sunny day When you’re walking with your best friend When you’re walking with your best friend

Of all the butters that I like best Well peanut is the nuttiest I also love my lady fine ‘Cause she almost makes me lose my mind Just like my favorite snack delight She’s smooth and creamy and treats me right There’s one lady I’m thinking of It’s my peanut butter baby that I love Just like peanut butter roasted lightly She’s the gal I like to see nightly Like the food of which I sing Well she goes well with everything She’s so special now don’t you see ‘Cause peanuts don’t just grow on trees There’s one lady I’m thinking of It’s my peanut butter baby that I love Now you may think I’ve a need to glut When I start talkin’ ‘bout my peanut Butter favorite nut of all is me! Cashew butter, almond butter, hazelnuts a-roasted Walnut butter, cocoa butter, chestnuts a-toasted Never mind those nuts, just give ‘em up, AND MAKE ME SOME PEANUT BUTTER BY THE CUP! She’s so special now don’t you see ‘Cause peanuts don’t just grow on trees There’s one lady I’m thinking of It’s my peanut butter baby that I love Now you may think I’ve a need to glut When I start talkin’ ‘bout my peanut… (Don’t even get me started on jelly) But her favorite nut of all I said her favorite nut of all Her favorite nut of all is me

about

This EP is dedicated to the musical legacy of Colescott's grandfather Robert Colescott, and his great-grandfather Warrington Colescott Sr.

Robert Colescott was the drummer and bandleader of the original Red Hots in the 1940s, before he became a successful painter and visual artist. His father Warrington was a jazz violinist in New Orleans in the early 1920s who played with a teenage Louis Armstrong between 1916-1919.

This record honors their musical influences, and was produced on entirely acoustic pre-1926 recording equipment, from before the invention of electric recording and preamps.

We hope you enjoy moving to these original dance songs and arrangements with the spirit of 1920s New Orleans & New York!
